Okay, I want to name my baby Jackson.

As soon as I tell anyone about it they go "Aww, Baby Jack!" I just want to go noooooooooooooooooo!! lol

I love the name Jackson but don't want him to be called Jack. Should I spell it different? What else could I do?

Thanks ahead of time!

  1. Jackson is a really cool name, and this kid in my class is Jackson, but he spells it Jaxon, but people call him Jax. Maybe it'll help your situation?

  2. I've seen it spelled Jaxon. I don't think he'd get nicknamed Jack with that spelling but I don't know. You could also just correct people when they call him Jack and say, "His name is Jackson."

P.S. None of the Jacksons I know go by Jack. I also love the name Jackson!

  3. Just make sure you never shorten it.  Anything with his name on it make sure to always spell it out.  Always use his full name when talking and such.  When daycare, preschool, etc. come into play make sure you tell the teachers you do not want it shortened.  There will always be some that naturally shorten it but over all I think most will go with the full name.

  4. DON'T SPELL IT DIFFERENT!

Just tell people his name is Jackson, and not Jack.  Eventually, they will get it through there minds,

I ♥ the name Jackson by the way.

My neighbor's name is Jackson, and he doesn't have a the "Jack" problem.  Everyone just calls him Jackson.

  5. He is going to be called Jack either way. If you hate it so bad then maybe make it a middle name

Or maybe Jackson Dylan so he will be called J.D and not Jack

  6. teach him that his name is jackson, call him jackson and if anyone calls him jack immediately correct them.

  7. well my sister had run across a person in sort of the same situation she liked the Name Jackson but didnt want him called Jack  So they were goign to spell it Jaxon, said basically the same but spelt differently and you could make it apperent once you found out the baby was a boy it would not be called Jack you could call it Jax and if you calle dhim that from the time you found out it was a boy it would already be ingrained in people's minds tha this nickname would be something other than Jack

  8. you just have to let them know early on try saying something like  "actually, it'll be jackson. not jack"  i have started telling everybody that our baby will be michael, not mike or mikey or mick but michael. you just have to start out making sure people know what to call him and it shouldn't be a problem.

  9. dont get pregnant

  10. You can't do anything. In the long run, what people call your son is between them and him. If you want to kick up a fuss you can probably make a small difference for three or four years. After that, forget it. It's not your name; it's his.

Spelling it different won't change a blind thing - most of the time names are used out loud.

You could use a name which doesn't have an obvious, common shortening that you don't like. That's about it.

  11. I'm having a little Jackson in about 8 weeks. ;-) I also get the same comments. I just came right out and told everyone do not call him Jack because that's not his name. Just be forward with them.

  12. No matter what, people are going to associate his name with Jack.

Even if you spell it differently... because when you meet someone they wont say their name and how they spell it, they will just say their name!

What if your son will like the nickname Jack?! You dont know that.

Its best if you continue to call him Jackson, and people will catch on.

If they keep calling him Jack, just remind them to please call him Jackson.

The same exact thing happened with my little cousin! Right when he was born my Uncle said... HIS NAME IS JOSIAH. Nobody is calling him Joe, Jojo, none of that!

Now hes the name one calling him nick names! lol

Everyone usually calls him Josiah but once in a while when playing or calling him we call him Joe. No big deal, right?!

    Nice name, I like Jackson

  13. no matter how u spell it, it will still sound the same, so they will still go aw baby jack. and i love the name jack, personally.

  14. I wouldn't spell it different. If you spell it Jaxon (which seems silly anyway) they will just call him Jax. Just tell people you don't like Jack, and you would prefer him to go by Jackson. Tell them you put a lot of thought into picking a name and you want it to be used exactly that way. In the end people will do what they want. Just call him Jackson yourself, he'll know that's his name. My name is Cristina and when I was little some people called me Cristinita, which is so stupid. My parents never called me that.

  15. My niece just named her son Jaxson---to be called Jax.  (Be careful.  I've got a feeling your son's classroom is going to be flooded with Jackson's, Jaxon's, Jaxson's.  Might want to rethink that.)

  16. My son started correcting people who shortened his name when he was about 3 years old.  He is now 8 and everyone calls him by his long name.  Because he said to.

Teach you son to do the same, it works.

  17. tell your family and friend hes name is Jackson i would appreciate if that is what you call him

  18. Don't spell it different!Jaxon looks trashy and stupid! Plus they will still want to call him Jack. Just tell them, nooo its Jackson and smile. Correct people and tell them you don't like Jack. They will get it.

  19. I would spell it Jaxin because that looks cuter and they can not call him Jack then!!!!!

  20. Jaxon

    Jackston

  21. you can maybe get family and friends to not call him Jack by asking them not to...but when he goes to school you have no control over what he chooses to call himself or what his friends, schoolmates, etc call him...

if you absolutely hate the possible/probabal nn, then pick another name.

  22. Well, you can spell it Jaxon or you can just tell them right off the bat not to call him Jack. Just say it politely and people will respect it. When he gets older, he can decide for himself what he wants to be called.

  23. Name him Jaxon then his nick name could be Jax which sounds better to me....

  24. Spelling it different should work.

    Jaxson (No Jack in it)

    Jacsson

  25. Tell your parents and friends you dont want them to call him Jack to call him Jackson that is about ALL you can do

  26. I know how you feel! My mother named me Abigail whch I love but everyone calls me Abby which I despise! My mother spent a lifetime correcting people but they still called me Abby. Point is I would correct as many as you can and always call him Jackson....which I love by the way! He will get used to his name and start correcting people himself! I would be nice about it to people and just explain that you named him Jackson and not Jack. An alternate spelling is Jaxson but they may call him Jax!I hope it allworks out for you and good luck!

  27. Spell it Jaxon. Problem solved. I agree with you. I love the name Jackson but not Jack. Jaxon is such a nice name.

  28. No matter how you spell it, it will still be pronounced the same. Just tell people his name is Jackson not Jack. My daughters name is Mariah (like Mariah Carey, but not after her ;) ) and for the longest time my father in law called her Moriah. I would politely tell him its M A riah..lol..there is nothing wrong in telling someone how to correctly say your sons name. Good luck
