  1. Four hours maximum is a better estimate of time.

    Take the motto - don't put things down, put them away.

    Always close all drawers after you have used them.

    Keep the floor clear.

    Get rid of the unwanted items in the charity/thrift stores.

    Give stuff away to friends.

    Don't buy any more stuff.

    Get off the computer

    Get a life.

    Hope it works for you.

  2. Hire a maid service to do it. Your room isn't that dirty just cluttered with stuff that needs to be packed and stored.

  3. Thats only a few hours work if you focus on a corner and work your way across the room. Put down the mouse, turn off the computer, turn on some music and get busy!

  4. Get 4 or 5  big boxes.

    Label them

    I / we   Use this

    Store

    Donate

    Trash

    ===========

    Move to another room

    everything in the room is assigned to a box - even if it won't fit.

    throw the trash away.

    return things to other rooms

    donate things.

    store things.

    with what you have left, start thinking about functiions in the rooom, and dividing the room up, either by functions or by MIne/My sisters

    After that , you can think about decorating.

  5. If you don't sleep in there, get rid of the mattresses.  If the room is occassionally used as a guestroom, then keep the best mattress and get rid of the other.  Donate used toys and clothes that have been outgrown.  Designate storage space for you and your sister. Give her the lower drawers on the the dresser and you take the upper drawers. Get plastic storage bins so you can see what is stored in them and keep organized.

    Get some comfortable seating in there and a table for crafts and homework.

    A little soap and water will go a long way. Then paint the walls a color you can live with.

    See HGTV.com or DIY.net for info and ideas. HGTV has a "rate my space" section where you can see plenty of good ideas.

    Good luck.

  6. Hi there.

    I think the easiest way to do it is to just get stuck into it and just get it done. Sort out the rubbish and get rid of it, sort out the things you want to keep and the things you want to get rid of (maybe give to Vinnie's)

    I understand how it would be hard keeping things organized without your dressers or whatever so If you need somewhere to store it all maybe buy some big plastic boxes from somewhere like crazy clarks and sort things out into them.

    And when your done with something in the future try and put it away.

    I know it's difficult trying to get a room like that tidy but it's OK you'll get there.

    Good luck :)
