  1. Telemarketing call from Wells Fargo.  They use an auto-dialer and when the line picks up (either you answering the phone, or your answering machine), a computer announces a pre-recorded message.  After that, there is a delay.  If you're still on the phone several seconds later (an answering machine will hang up after a short delay), they figure they've found a pigeon and a live person will come on to give you a sales pitch.  Most people just hang up, which is why companies use a computer for the first part.

I often wondered, if MOST people just hang up, why do companies continue wasting their time AND money on it?  But it's a lot like SPAM.  Even though 99% of people just ignore it, the 1% still generate enough response and business to make it worthwhile.

So, SPAM is not just a bunch of evil, foreign lurkers trying to hack your system, they're also well-known large corporations, too.

  2. Block that number from calling you. You can call the phone company to find out how.

  3. If this is a land line, you should be able to block it simply by using your phone, but you will have to check with your phone company as some companies charge for this service.

Call your phone company and let them know what you want to do, they should be able to help you.

Supposedly, the phone number belongs to Wells Fargo.

  4. get a callerID mananger!!

  5. callyour phone company it sounds like a computer gnenerated all, if so call Well Fargo and thell them to delte it from their computer, a computer randomly put numbers together then dial them all is done automaticly by a computer the pihne comany can not block slectednumbers only collect calls and 900 or 976

justcall Wells Fargo tell them their computer is ramdomly dialy your phonr number and to pleasestop, if the refuse call you ocal state attorney and file a complain ads well as with the FCT  The Federal Trade Commiosn and file a formal complain, this is harrsement, the only way Fargo can keep calling you is is you or some one at your number has recently done business with you, they can tlelemarket you for 2 years even onthe do not call ist,  if this is not the case they have to stop or your states attorney oiffce can force them to

  6. I would suggest contacting your local attorney general.

In my household we have on record for the last year a total of 153 calls to our home.  The calls came from 14 different 1-866- etc. numbers. BUT, all of the calls led to the same recording, "The message box is full".  No one has the ability to own 14 different toll lines and be able to continually harrass millions of Americans around the clock at the same time. No one, that is, except AT&T.  If you check online by typing in the number that keeps harrassing you, you will come across and entire community of individuals all across the nation who are harrassed by the same sets of numbers. AT&T wins no matter what. Since they have the equipment, the computers, the automation, it is no cost to them to program their computers to automatically keep dialing people.  That is free for them. What the company gets in return is countless monies from individuals continuously pushing *69 to see who keeps calling and hanging up. It may only cost the individual $2 each time. But if AT&T calls 10 million customers, the odds are that at least 1 million of them are going to *69 each time. That adds up to $2 million dollars.  Not only this, but countless people online have stated that it forced them to apply for Privacy Manager to stop the calls. Again, who profits? In our community, Privacy Manager adds another $13 to our bill. If they can get as little as 1 million of their customers to sign on, that brings in a MONTHLY profit of $13 million!, and a YEARLY profit of $156 Million! (With that many customers, profits can add up rather quickly) Also, this is easy for them to get at least 1 million customers to do one or the other (*69, or Privacy Manager) since AT&T has an astounding 100 million customers across the nation. We do not have concrete evidence as of yet for this situation. We need everyone to pass this problem over to their local attorney general because their office has the means to investigate this. But, when looking at all the facts, all evidence cannot help but point to one company.
