How can i get this stain out?

someone spilt a glass of cherrade on my cream carpet, i had tried vanish but it has hardly touched it. has any one got any ideas to get it out that is nt going to be to costly?

* For juices and wines, mix a small amount of laundry detergent with lukewarm water (or ammonia) and blot the stain. Then, sponge lightly with club soda and blot on the detergent water solution again.

You might need to play chemist on this one -- both because of the nature of the stain and the type of carpet you have.  I would start with the smaller guns, and work upwards.

With any of these ideas, find a hidden part of your carpet (like inside a closet if you carpeted in them), apply the treatment, and make sure it doesn't dicolor that portion beforehand.

First, try one of those dry oxy cleaners, make up a dilute solution (not the paste concentration), and apply;

Second, try one of the liquid oxy cleaners (not "oxy dishwashing" products); these have a little higher pH, and might work better than the diluted powder;

Third, you can try to make up your own dilute solution of household bleach -- one-quarter teaspoon per gallon is about 50% higher than the concentration you would get in the wash.  If your carpet is pretty stable to low concentrations (like polyethylene and nylon carpets) you'll probably be fine.  Don't do this for wool carpets;

Last, if the carpet doesn't discolor, you might try a Clorox Bleach Pen.  It's still dilute compared to a bottle of bleach.

If these don't work, looks like it's time for the steam cleaner....
