  1. Phone LUL* or TfL** HR depts and ask.

  2. Work your way up from a low position if you are young, be ruthless, its good to be able to work with people but dont make friends.

If you have a degree you will get on better than someone who knows the job better, kiss lots of ar*s and  you are on your way

  3. Hi there. I do not know how old you are (trying not to insult!), but it might be worth you trying Network Rail as they have training schemes & apprentiships which would train you up in the area that you are looking at. Their website is: http://www.networkrail.co.uk/aspx/1066.a...

the reason that I say this is because LUL thesedays mainly uses Tubelines & Metronet for their Project work IE: track replacement & Station Rebuilding. While Network Rail is in house & at the moment we are looking for Project Planners for loads of Projects like Kings Cross, 2012, Crossrail, Thameslink.

i hope that my answer helps.

  4. This is a specialist area that usually requires an operational knowledge of the underground railway. Assuming you have such knowledge, most Protection Masters these days work for LUL's suppliers - Tube Lines and MetroNet - and require extensive training and assessment to be completed and passed before you would become a qualified Protection Master.

It is unlikely that you would be able to become a direct recruit in this field and your best bet would probably be to apply for a related position and apply within either Tube Lines or MetroNet for a Protection Master position.

Depending on your age and qualifications, you might also consider an apprenticeship.

  5. Register on http://www.tfl.gov.uk under the jobs section.
