Depends from where in Manhattan.

From NYC Penn Station, there is New Jersey Transit's Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coastline that goes to Newak Airport for $15.50 one way. $5.50 Airtrain Newark fee is included  TIcket must be purchase from vending machine or ticket window to avoid surcharge. Surchage does not apply if window is closed or all machines out of service.

You may also take PATH train to Newark Penn Station and paid $1.35 one-zone fare on New Jersey Transit #62 bus Perth Amboy-bound to Newark Airports. Make sure to get off at A, B, C or otherwise, additional fee require in Elizabeth.

You may also catch #67 bus at Port Authority as well.

one option is to take a taxi from Manhattan to newark but look for a fifty dollar ride. maybe less

If you go to Penn Station, you can take an NJ Transit train to Newark Airport.  I think there is more than one line that goes to the airport, but I know you can definitely take the Northeast Corridor Line and get off at the Newark Liberty Airport stop (not the Newark Penn Station). Once at the airport, you need to take the monorail to the terminal.  I think the whole trip including the ticket to ride the monorail at the airport is about $15.

From Penn Station (33rd and 7th), you take a NJ Transit train to the Newark Airport station.  It takes about 20 minutes.  Others may recommend the bus, but the hassle isn't worth the little you'd save.

a. Taxi (from anywhere in NYC)

b. There is a privately run bus that leaves from Grand Central, Port Authority, Times Square, and at least to spots in lower Manhattan.

c. There is a train from Penn Station (30th-33rd Street, 7th-8th Avenue).  Take either Amtrak or NJ Transit to Newark Airport station.  Then take the monorail from there to your airline's terminal.

d. Helicopter

e. Take either the George Washington Bridge or the Lincoln Tunnel to the SOUTHBOUND NJ Turnpike.

f. Take the Holland Tunnel to the NORTHBOUND NJ Turnpike.

g. Swim
