How can i get vista to detect my ethernet card.?

when i did a upgrade to vista from xp i cant get internet, it says to install a network adapter and driver, i have a network adapter installed, also my cd-rw wont work with vista, what could be the problem? i installed diferent drivers and ran a vista compatability test, and it says ok. why cant i get internet.?

you must be missing the driver, do you have the driver cd's that came with the network adapter/with the computer? if not you can contact the computer manufacturer and get them shipped to you:)
