How can i get wireless internet on my notebook at home through my pc?

i have Comcast internet and i want to get internet access to my notebook but i don't know how my friend one time brought her notebook to my house and got internet wireless with out anything from the next door neighbors house so i wanted to know if my notebook can do that too but using my internet at home

The best advise I can give you, get an internet modem find out how it works. Just connect your computer to the wireless internet and voila!

yea you need a wireless router to hook it up and linksys is suggested there sold in electronic stores and u may find a sale for labor day weekend

Getting an internet connection from someone without permission is illegal.

You need a wireless router (that's what your neighbor has and that's what your school has).  The Linksys WRT54G is just $49.88 at Wal-Mart.  It's the best you can get in its class (and all you'll need for quite a few years.)
