I'm moving into a campus apartment. it comes with a silver frame bed, black&silver desk, and black&silver amoire and also a silver floor lamp. The walls are grayish white. What colors can i use to accessorize the room as well as use for my bedding colors to give this room a classy modern look?

Also, I'll need a lot more storage space, any ideas?

  1. Dude...my dorm was pretty gloomy too much like yours.  I used shelf contact paper cut it down the middle a made a border for the room first.  Curtians are curtains but the easiest and most durable ones are shower curtains.  Yeah I know but you can find some pretty cool curtains if you look.  You have to see them up before you judge.  The most money I spent was $99 on a piece of WHITE (yeah white!) carpet from the carpet store...I think it was 12x12'.  It was a leftover piece.  I would play up that black and silver you already have and make a kind of industrial lounge/bar.  The gray black and silver would be a pretty tight lounge with balck and white photos of New York.

  2. Check out Target for framed photographs of architectural subjects.  Put three similar types over your bed (for instance, Brooklyn Bridge, Chrysler bldg & Statue of Liberty).  The area under the bed is great for storage.  Measure the clearance under the bed and then buy plastic boxes to fit underneath.  Rubbermaid make one with wheels but I find it too long to pull out in a small space.  You can even raise your bed a bit by putting something under the legs to allow for more storage (old books work great).  If you want to add a splash of color, I suggest burgundy.  It adds richness without taking away from the modern feel.  Not too much though, maybe just the bedspread.
