ok i have a compaq presario v5000 and i am trying to run te s-video cable through my direct tv reciever into the tv help

  1. I have seen a lot of models of Directv receivers, but I have never seen one that had an s-video input.

    Are you wanting to run the s-video form the computer into the receiver then out into the tv,

    I am confused this wouldn't work

    If the receiver has  usb you can run it to the computer then run the computer to the tv though this would still not accomplish what you are wanting to do.

I am guessing from your question that this means you don't have an s-video out connection on your computer.  However, they do make adapters that go from composite (the red white and yellow) and turn the yellow, the video, into s-video, you can buy them at many electronic stores, you can also get cords to go from the red and white audio to headphone style jack if your computer doesn't have the red and white audio inputs.

    EDIT: So what exactly is the problem, the direct-tv unit has s-video but the TV doesn't?  Sorry, I want to help, I guess I just need more info though.
