I have to think in reverse, I assume you know to go to sea and head north, there are several good ports to overnight in because this will take several days and you don't want to get caught in a storm.  As you approach Norths Head, turn to a heading of 270 and make for Watsons bay. Your now in the outer harber area.  Turn more SSW and make for Point Piper and the bay between Point Piper and Darling Point. Overnight there, then  if you wish head on into Sidney harbor, it's hard to miss, just go under the world famous bridge.  Good luck!
