  1. Open the image in Photoshop (or similar, if you haven't got Photoshop you can download a free trial copy from Adobe), go to Mode under the Image menu, and change to greyscale. There are alternative methods but if you aren't experienced with the software this is the simplest, you might need to alter the brightness and contrast, again under the Image menu.

On any photo manipulation site or with any photo software you can either turn your image into black and white, or reduce saturation to the point where the color is gone.  Before computers I used to have color photocopies made, only I asked them to print them in black and white, which would render a perfect gray scale image!.
