  1. I know how you feel.  I tried and tried to be nice then I tried to be civil, but even that didn't work.  She was bad mouthing me to my husband and step children.  After refusing to go over to her house or to family gatherings my husband got into a heated argument.  He finally saw it from my point of view and told his mother it had to stop.  When she continued we started leaving in the middle of get togethers.  Eventually she got the point, if she wanted to see her son and grand kids she had to at least be civil to me.  Your husband is going to have to step up and confront her about her behavior/attitude towards you.  You two may never be best friends but she has to learn you and her son are a package deal.  I hope this helps.

  2. don't worry after you get home or alone you can cuss and kick all you want

  3. Drink heavily!

  4. I have the mother-in-law from h**l so I can relate to your question. I've tried every alternative but believe it or not, the one that has given me more results is -- to ignore her. It drives them crazy to see how her remarks don't bother you. Keep smiling, keep making conversation, give your husband a peck, when she gets rude just express yourself through your facial expression. She's harming herself by behaving like a low-life. She envies your happiness and your personality. Flaunt it!

  5. Be civil, keep yourself occupied, and keep your distance.  Do not allow yourself to be bated into an argument or drama.

  6. drug her

  7. Ya I have the same problem with mine.  This  probably wont help you at all but mine is so bad we don't have family gatherings anymore. I hate it, but the only way I have been able to take care of my problem is by not dealing with it anymore.  Especially when you try, try, try, but you don't succeed with her.  It might hurt the family for that small period of time, and call me selfish, but it is worth me being happy.  Especially when I feel that I have catered enough.
