My adult son has aad IN SPADES. But he is in absolute denial and his life is going downhill fast. Got him to see our family doctor eight months ago. Dr. told him he didn't believe aad was a real ailment. So our son took "no" for an answer and has been spiraling out of control ever since. His life is a disaster especially financially. Being his mother doesn't help. Being a friend doesn't help. What next?

  1. It sounds like bipolar to me... Convince him to be analysed for that, and perhaps google it for yourself so you can compare the description to your son.

  2. These are not the symptoms of ADD.  ADD is when someone has trouble focusing/short attention span.  Your son sounds like he is depressed.  He probably should see another doctor, maybe one that will prescribe him some anti-depressants.

  3. That's a tough one.  Your son may have to hit rock bottom before he realizes he has a problem, and only then will he accept that he has a medical illness.
