How can i help prevent jamming my fingers during football?

I am constantly jamming my fingers during football. My catching skills are fine, no offense but, i don't need a lesson in catching. I was wondering if there was a way to help support or strengthen my fingers. I jam them pushing off defenders, defending WRs, and tackling all the time. How can i lessen the chances of jamming my fingers. Thanks in advance.

  1. wear gloves or get used to it.. my pinky has a bump on the side of it and its dislocated from getting my fingers jammed so much

  2. jammed fingers are just a part of the game.. one time my thumb was jammed so bad i couldnt write and missed school for it..other than extending your fingers catching the ball, there isnt anything you can do..you shouldnt really be using your hands to push off defenders while running routes.. the good receivers are able to use their elbows and body to separate from the defenders..

  3. ya dude jammin your fingers is part of the game.  you also might get your fingers stuck in a facemask and get em cracked.  that **** hurts, let me tell you boy!  look man, just tape em  up, put gloves on over, and go out and  play and dont worry about it. good luck with it all

  4. Well first gloves are for catching no protection against jamming your fingers. Tapping them won't prevent them from jamming but it will help them when they do get jammed.  Jamming your fingers is going to happen.  The only way to prevent it from happening is to practice "jamming" the receiver you want to get your hands in the right position.

  5. I have seen lots of players using tape to wrap their fingers. I don't know if this would help or not. What does your coach say?

  6. Jamming your fingers isn't about strength - it's about placement / leverage. Your fingers need additional support - without making it a disadvantage for you to defend / intercept.  Try taping your fingers up to the first knuckle - and then test your grip / take a few throws and see how it feels.

  7. Dude good luck with that one....

One thing you can do is use a closed fist to knock down the DB's hands when they're trying to play Bump n Run.

Try your best to be in position for a good tackle, avoid grabbing jersey(easier said than done, I know)....

  8. wrap them up

it helps it happen to me

  9. Wear gloves
