  1. Educate people.  Don't rage at them and call them stu pid, but really try to teach them something.  Making them angry at you will just make them not listen, right?  People don't listen when they're angry.  Do some research, and teach people REAL facts about puppymills and what it really means to be a good dog breeder.  That's the best thing you can do.

And of course, don't buy from petstores, designer dog breeders or puppy-mills.  (It's not like people go and advertise "hello I am a puppy mill breeder", so some research is required on your part for this :) )

  2. Get involved with a local rescue organization.  Talk to your friends about it.  Help educate people about puppy mills, pet stores, back yard breeders, pet over population, and the millions and millions of animals put down just because they have no where to go.  check out www.prisonersofgreed.com

Good for you for getting involved!

  3. Write letters to your state representatives asking them to pass laws to abolish puppy mills.  Ask your parents to help you find the names and addresses.

  4. I'm thirteen too! Weird. Go to stoppuppymills.org to learn more and get fliers and posters and other stuff to spread the word about the horror. Where a t- shirt too! You can take your mind off of it too... volunteer at Best Friends animal sanctuary (I think the only one is in Kenab, Utah- been there- it's awesome!) or a Humane Society near you. You can tell your friends and other people DON'T SHOP- ADOPT! Sadly, there is hardly a thing we can do to stop them FOREVER, but the effort helps a great deal!! (Don't tell anybody), but when I see a sign from a backyard breeder that religiously has a sign that says "Puppies" and gives a phone number, I tend to solicit them and explain why poor breeding is so horrible. My family fosters puppies from the humane society and its a shame that people abandon them, for example, behind a dumpster. Its then our job to nurse them back to health. Anyway, spread the word- IT HELPS A LOT!

  5. I'm 13 too and I HATE PUPPY MILLS!

The last time I went to the mall,

I went inside the dog store and started telling people not to buy it from the store!!

And told them to adopt and how they are killing the moms of the puppies!

You can tell everybody and raise awareness.

Put posters up in your neigherborhood saying that they should go to the local animal shelter (a no kill shelter)

    And spread the word!

  6. I'm 13 too. Awesome. Anyways, the best you can do is not buy puppies and kittens from pet stores unless theres a pet adoption. Encourage others to do so as well. Either adopt or by from a responsible breeder.

  7. Only 13 - you have the power, don't sell yourself short!

Education is a very powerful tool.  Most people have no idea where puppies in stores even come form - look at how long it took Oprah Winfrey to find out!

You can help educate people who are looking for a new dog, just by speaking to people you meet.  DOn;t gross them out with too many awful details, or they will not be able to listen - but do tell them how the puppymills only operate to make loads of puppies, and not to be kind to their parents - and that they are LEGAL...that's the part that astonishes me.

You have every right to speak to the lawmakers in your community, and go with others to ask that they work to make the puppymills illegal.  You can point out just how much it costs taxpayers to control and dispose of the overpopulation of dogs caused by the puppymills.

Information and education equal power, and you have it , all right here - and THAT is what you can do - LOTS!

No you go, girl, and do us proud!

  8. Encourage people to spay and neuter, and post don't buy puppies from pet store posters near pet stores that do sell puppies-put up other posters, tell everyone you know, do a project about them for school-make it REALLY gruesome and extreme-because puppy mills are.

Tell people about buying puppies from pet stores as they go in and give them brochures for rescues instead. Support local rescues and raise money for them.

I did a project about the dog and cat fur industry in China and my ending line was: "So do you still think fur is fashionable?" I heard tons of "No ways!" Afterwards, like everyone said I had a good project and I got a really good grade. If you ever have the oppurtunity to do a project infront of your class. Make sure you practice it a lot so you can handle it though.
