  1. Sell it, because you are spending too much money on gas.  Buy a hybrid, there are many to choose from.

  2. don't drive it, sell it, walk or bike everywhere............

  3. sell it

  4. dont drive it so often, i mean its a nice day (depends where you live) so walk or take the bus. taking public transportation always helps environment

  5. recycle

  6. plant a tree

  7. Trade it in for a hybrid SUV

  8. Drive as efficiently as possible to reduce fuel conspumption, here's some ideas...

    > Avoid harsh braking, accelerate gently and drive at a steady speed.

    > Keep tyres inflated to the correct pressure.

    > Remove bike and ski racks when not in use, also remove detachable roof racks, luggage boxes etc.

    > Carrying unnecessary weight wastes fuel, declutter your vehicle.

    > Use the correct gear and use cruise control if your vehicle has it.

    > Keep your vehicle regularly services.

    > Turn the engine off when stopped or waiting.

A good policy to adopt is one of 'carbon offsetting'.  You calculate your carbon emissions than take steps to offset these, often by tree planting.  Rather than include links to commercial carbon offseting organisations here's the page from Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_offs...

  9. Richard W has beaten me to it. His advice is good and a lot more realistic, practical and economic than the simplistic "sell it". Why? Because if you sell it right away you are not helping the problem, just passing it on to someone else. I think you are taking by far the better approach by looking for responsible ways to use what you have.

Another thing that assists the environment is hanging on to your car for a year or so longer than you normally would. This way of thinking (if widely adopted) would help to reduce the number of new cars being produced -- and just building all these cars has a huge impact on the environment, never mind what happens to them when they are eventually junked.

  10. Sell it and buy something more economical.  Don't use the "I already own an SUV" as an excuse, like  you're trapped. You can always sell it if you're truly interested in helping the environment.

  11. Effective use of your SUV is the best bet.  Combine trips and take as many passengers as the SUV is made for.  People who drive alone in a car pollute the air several times more than an SUV or van containing 4 or mor people.  Keep your tire pressure right, and have regular tune-ups.  One driver/one car is the biggest cause of pollution and urban congestion.  Think about this, if one car and one driver gets 40 miles per gallon, an SUV that gets 18 miles per gallon, but has 5 people in it who would normally be driving is getting the equivalent of 90 miles per gallon.  Car pool!

  12. Sell it.

  13. Here's the most important thing.  We don't need people to dedicate their life to this.  Just do reasonable stuff.

If you own a home repair any air leaks, caulk cracks, etc.  Get a programmable thermostat.  Maybe more insulation.  Compact fluorescent bulbs.  There are a number of websites with tips.  And these things will ultimately save you money.

Support government action by supporting candidates who believe what you believe.

The next time you buy a car, buy one that meets your needs; no more, no less.

If you can, buy "green power" from your power company.  Consider getting a solar power system for your home, if you live somewhere appropriate for it.

Bottom line.  Don't stop doing stuff.  Do stuff more efficiently.  Don't run out and sell your car because of this.

  14. Sell it.

    Buy a hybrid.
