you cant play the tv audio thru the reciever if there are no outputs on the tv.

You can't.

Unless you have a headphone jack on it. In this case then you need to get an adapter cable with 1/8" stereo headphone to Left and Right RCA.

Otherwise you have to use a VCR or a cable/sat box and connect it to your receiver instead.

There are also external TV tuners which you can use that will allow you to do this.

You can not hook up your actual TV unless it has some sort of audio output on it.

Unless your TV has some type of output like a headphone jack on the front, you can't do it because the coaxial connection on the back is just an input; you need some from of output.  If there is a headphone jack, you just need to get a Y cable in which one end has a stereo headphone jack, and the other has 2 RCA jacks.
