How can i implement health and saftey policies in the work place

  1. Train yourself and your workforce to recognise and report Health &Safety issues to be dealt with properly.


  2. Determine if your work place has a health & safety manual.  Many do but others do not.  If they do not, you could volunteer to compile one.  If they do have one, you could become familiar with it and follow through with the guidelines.  You could also volunteer to conduct safety meeting for other existing employees or to conduct that part of the training for all new employees.

  3. The policy you will need will depend upon the nature of the wrok being undertaken in your work place.  If people are employed, there has to be a Health and Safety Policy, and all employees should be made aware of it and have access to it.  Policies are usually developed as a combination of legislation - what you have to do - and risk assessment activities where you identify possible hazards and ensure means of safety for all.

    A good starting web- site, to give you some idea of requirements, is the Government one - lots of free leaflets and advice.
