How can i import video from my computer and have the audio as well?

I am trying it with .MOV video files and it ends up with no audio, i have tried it with windows movie maker, should i convert the file? Because i tried converting the files to DVD format, but still there was no audio. Refer some useful programs as well (that work good on Windows Vista). Thank for your responses
