  1. you can improve your fitness by running more.

you can increase your muscle by lifting weights. swim. play waterpolo.

improve your skills by keeping a ball on your at all times. throw it  to yourself. juggle it. toss it against a wall.

learn the rules by watching games with knowledgeable people and reading the rules.

increase your speed by doing plyometrics, stairs, running at the beach, running in a pool, stretching.

  2. As a forward, make sure you you get your strength up as well as possible. those scrums, mauls, rucks, etc. are mostly on the forwards so your upper body strength is KEY!

make sure you run as much as you can and do pushups.

as far as technique, watch video's of rugby and go out and watch others play. have a friend on your team help you out with passes, kicking etc. and have your tight 5 out on that scrum machine as often as you can!!

usually as forwards you learn to stay with your pod!! (which is normally your tight 5) ruck together, maul together, pass together, etc.

Play as a team, and you will do well.

  3. get to the gym as often as u can work on ur running as in sprints...try abita boxing along with skipping..it very good for keeping on your toes!!i play for my school and leinster u16..skills will tak practice,go as often as u can to ur local pitch...practice your dodging and dummie passes in your back garden by running in and out with cones or something...also practice ur ball carrying and when on the deck..passing is most important so practice quick hands!!i also take milk and egg protein or creatine..

  4. I certainly recommend going to the gym to bulk up, and maybe you would benefit from a training guide.  There are some really good ones listed on this website: http://www.fitnessreview.info/build-musc...

I used to be really skinny and terrible at playing rugby, but when I started uni a few years ago I bought No Nonsense Muscle Building (about $40) and it really helped me bulk up and now I'm a much better player!

    Hope that helps :-).

    Good Luck!
