  1. Have your feet slightly touch when you're kicking.  It'll help you relax.  It also increses surface area to kick like that...making you go faster.

    YAY

  2. i would recomend some zoomers. they are really short fins. about 1 to 2 inch extentions past your feet. this will help a bit and not give you the extra speed you get from regular fins.

  3. There is a wonderful book you should get if you are a serious swimmer and really want to get better. "Swim Fast" there are secondary books that go even further "Swim Faster" and "Swimming even Faster". They are by a leading NCAA coach. His name starts with "M" but I can't remember it right now. "Marchino?" or something like that. The book helps me a lot. I use it for myself and coach my team out of it.

  4. Work on stretching the ankle and foot area whenever possible. As you increase this flexibility, the feet will loosen and your kick will get stronger.

    Stretching suggestions:

Kneel and sit back on your feet toes back

Kneel and sit back on your feet toes pointed out

sitting with legs dangling, hold the leg still and trace the alphabet with your big toes - this will take your foot and ankle through the whole range of motion

    runners stretch, jump rope, butterfly

    Walking / running in sand

    Good Luck

  5. Use fins. They will increase ankle flexibility, reduce jerkiness and cross-over, and fix various other "messed-up-ness" in flutter kick.
