How can i improve my bt home hub's signal strength?

Hi i have a ps3 and a BT home hub the internet works but it struggles to download things very fast and regularly loses connection is there a way of improving the signal maybe without moving the router such as buying something that can improve the signal strength. Thanks

  1. the network adapter in the PS3 is pretty good and the strength of the signal coming from the BT Routers are pretty good compared with others.

    I reckon it must be the construction of your house causing the problem.

    That said, it could be a problem with either the PS3 or Router.

    Try testing the strength of the signal with a computer/phone throughout your house to determine which.

  2. Go to the BT Hub manager and have a look at what your speed actually is. If you think it is slower than you were told that you could receive then give them a call. The speed tester BT uses is at http://speedtester.bt.com I'd also compare their results at http://speedtest.net

    It might be worth checking that your ADSL Micro Filters are in the right place as this is different if you're using an extension cable or not.

    Use the Ethernet connection and not the USB one [You should have received one of each with your Home Hub].

    If you are still unsatisfied with your speeds ask if there are any restrictions on your line as you may be being throttled for using excessive amounts of bandwidth.
