  1. Here are some good websites to get you started:

    http://www2.actden.com/Writ_Den/Tips/ess...

Some tips that shouldn't be overlooked:

Determine your audience!! This is extremely important! Is this for a standardized test for you state? Is this for AP or SATs? Or is this for your english teacher? Your audience influences the kind of writing you will do. For a state test, its likely that its okay for you to sound like a ten-year-old, as long as you clearly get your point across and use details. For AP exams, you may want to focus on good main ideas and vocabulary. For your english teacher, make sure you have a good thesis statement, use examples and detail, and you vary your sentence structure.

Also, try not to be repetetive. Don't feel like your essay will be better just because its longer. Use examples and details, but don't spend a lot of time explaining something simple. Get your point across without being exessively wordy.

Third, practice makes perfect. Write essays, look at whats wrong, and try to fix it. Ask someone else to read it and have the tell you the parts that need adjusting.

  2. Many students think that writing an essay is merely writing what you think about the topic and that's it. These are the students that when starting the first paragraph, they don't have anything else to say or to write.

Writing involve certain steps that you should follow in order to have a successful product at the end.

    1. Prewriting, which is anything you do before you write a draft of your essay or any document you are about to start. It includes thinking, taking notes, talking to others, brainstorming, outlining, and gathering information.  So you can make a list of your thoughts, you can do a cloud chart where you write your ideas, you can write an outline with all the information you can provide about the topic, and of course, this part being the one that many students forget but: You need to search for relevant information about the topic: library, internet, magazines, whatever resource you think might contain information about your topic.

    2.  Drafting: occurs when you put your ideas into sentences and paragraphs. In this step you should not think about grammar or spelling. NO! This part should be writer-centered: it is you telling yourself what you know and think about the topic. Here you concentrate upon explaining and supporting your ideas fully, you start connecting your ideas.

    3. Revising:  is the key to effective documents. Here you think more deeply about your readers' needs and expectations. The document becomes reader-centered. How much support will each idea need to convince your readers? Which terms should be defined for these particular readers? Is your organization effective? Does the information that I provide accessible to my readers and understandable to them? Am I being clear enough for them to understand what I want to say?

    4. Editing: NOW you can check for such things as grammar, mechanics, and spelling. The last thing you should do before printing your document is to spell check it.

    5. At the end you re-write or type a clean, neat, organized essay to present or to hand-in to the teacher.

So, I finish by saying that things might seem hard but with practice and hard work you will be able to do whatever you plan to do and don't worry because you still have time ahead of you to practice and reinforce your writing skills.

  3. Pick a subject to write about. =

My favorite animal is the horse, because horses are so kind, and gentle, understanding, but still need people to care for them. like people they need someone who understands them too.  this is just an example, but you will probably still need a tutor cuz no one can learn anything overnight.

  4. Well first looking at your question you need some grammer work...unless you just write like that on the internet. If thats how you normally write you really need some work. Before i write an essay, i come up with my thesis. (This is the last sentence in your opening paragraph) This is going to tell the reader all about your paper. Next i make a chart with 5 parts, part 1 is at the top and its my opening paragraph and my thesis. Then the next 3 are my body paragraphs, these make up the essay. I only write a couple of sentences though, not the whole essay yet. then the last paragraph i write the open sentence to my concluding paragraph. Once i have this chart filled out then i can start writing. Its always worked for me...
