  1. Make some friends who speak English as their native language, either in person or over the internet.  Tell them that you'd really like to improve your English, so they should correct you whenever you make a mistake.  That way, you can practice your speaking and listening comprehension if you're with them in person or over the phone.  You can also practice your writing and reading comprehension with instant messaging or email, if you want.

French is my second language, and something else I do to practice is I try to think in French instead of English.  Of course, you can't learn a lot this way because you aren't getting new material, but it can help you drill certain sentences in your head.

    Good luck!

  2. Well, when I was taking Spanish, I found that actually thinking in Spanish helped a lot. Instead of seeing a rose and thinking red first, I taught myself to see the rose and think rojo first.

If you already haven't you should try it. It might help.

  3. Immerse yourself in the language. Read magazines, watch movies and other media that use english. Books, especially, have helped me widen my vocabulary a lot; but magazines and other light stuff could do too. Listening to TV newscasts helps improve your english pronunciation.

Talking with a friend who's first language is english would be better as well. It tests your knowledge of the vital mechanics of the language - vocab, pronunciation, intonations, etc. Plus, it enhances your fluency.

    Hope this helps! =P

  4. Really do what you would do if you were learning your original language, use picture flash cards that have the words and the pronunciation on them so you can know how it is sounded and know what the object is. Immersion has always been the best way to learn any foreign language and therefore since the human mind understands pictures better than words so this way is the easiest way to to help with sounding out words. If your having a problem with your accent or even want to get rid of it, you have to really focus and change your voice so to speak. Example, if your voice is very high and you want it to go low, you have to make your voice deeper to your satisfied tone. After you do that then you have to train your mind and body to keep that tone for now on which is really easier said then done since your voice was higher to begin with. The same concept goes for getting rid of an accent, thus is why so many people tend not to lose the accent. If you want to increase your vocabulary then all you have to do is read the dictionary because that has nearly every single word known in the English language in it and you actually might impress some people if you use some of those words in a sentence right. Another helpful idea is to read books and newspapers in English and if you can do it out loud so you can hear how you sound because you should never be afraid of the language your trying to get better at. That's really all I can think of at the moment.

  5. Fluency is all about imitation. In order to be totally fluent in another language it is necessary to essentially forget your first language and totally immerse yourself in the new one. In your case - English. Immersion and repitition. Ask your friends who are native speakers to correct your mistakes. Don't be afraid to take this crucial step. Also, start keeping a diary in english but do this with a dictionary and thesaurus next to you. Keeping a diary allows you to practice the various tenses which might require practice and to improve your vocabulary. But a big part of fluency is just time - listening, writing, reading and speaking. Good luck!

  6. Read read read.  Whether that be English blogs, novels, autobiographies, whatever, as long as you immerse yourself into the English language by reading, you'll be able to pinpoint patterns and discovery new writing styles of the English language.

Once you've got the hang of reading in English, you can then practice writing out sentences, stories, blog entries, whatever in English to fully reinstate your knowledge built up from reading :)

    Hope this helps.

  7. Well, practice, practice, practice! If you have friend's who speak English, practice around them! Or, just try to use English more in everyday situations. Say if you were to think, "I really want that apple," think in English. Write a few notes in English. Just incorporate it more into normal tasks, so it becomes a natural thing to do. Also, listening to music that's in English and watching movies in English will help you to understand it, not just speak it. Good luck!

  8. read english books, talk in english to english speakers, write everything in english instead of your mother tongue language for a while .. so for e.g. your diary or something that you write almost everyday... everything in english ..

it helped me to improve my fluency of english ..
