  1. I'm a beginning surfer, and paddling was one of the hardest parts for me!  You can definitely workout and do exercises to improve your paddling, and the following really helped me out:

The main muscles used are the Lattissimus Dorsi (back) which you can work using bent over dumbbell rows, pull-ups, or cable rows.  Also, you'll want to work your lower back, since proper paddling will require you to bend your back up, so you're facing forward, not lying flat on your board.  If you're laying flat, your leverage and positioning are off, making your muscles work harder, but move less water.

Finally, when paddling, make a conscious effort to relax your shoulders.  This allows your back muscles to work more efficiently.  This last point made a huge difference for me, once I found out about it.

    Hope that helps!  Good luck!

  2. JUMP INTO A HUGE POOL ON HYDRO CLORIC ACID. the big clambouski is just kidding you . DO NOT JUMP IN ANY ACIDS>

    I AM THE BIG CLAMBOUSKI

  3. push ups, pull ups, bench press, dumbells, swimming, hand stands, holding your hands out making a t shape with your body with apples on your palms and other stuff. hopw this helps. good luck. have fun surfing

  4. Do lots of push ups. That will strengthen your arms and chest which will help in surfing.

  5. practice swimming laps in a pool

  6. First I would recommend getting into shape because surfing uses very specific muscles you may not be using now.

You need to do push-ups and bench presses to build your chest muscles, (pecs), so you can push yourself up to stand.

Next you need to do pull-ups or lat pull-downs to work the muscles along your sides, (lats), that you will use to paddle.

A little running will build your cardio and legs muscles.

Then I would take a couple of lessons to get the basics down.

After that it's just going to take time in the water.

I always recommend that beginners get a longboard, (at least 9' long), as these are the easiest to catch waves with and balance on to stand up.

And finally this site has a great article called 'Learn How to Surf in One Day' that I think is terrific:

Good luck and have fun!!  :-)
