  1. Run workouts and build strength in your stomach and arms by doing crunches and lifting weights. Also, make sure you eat right and get enough sleep.

  3. Running speed totally depends on how much support force you have at ground contact so you don't collapse at knee and ankle. This results in shorter ground contact times and longer strides. Arm swing/upper body strength have almost nothing to do with speed as it has no effect on support force. To help increase support force get in a leg press machine and lift the weight with both legs but hold with one leg, on ball of foot and knee slightly bent. Hold as much weight as you can for 10-30 seconds. Do 3-6 holds a few times a week. Also do short top speed sprints to coordinate the strength with speed.

  4. If you're doing a sprint like a 100 or 200, exaggerate your arm movement a lot. It will make your legs go faster and you'll take longer strides. Also, make your knees go very high and kick up your heels behind you. If you're in the 100 m, stay low for about 5 or 6 meters out of the blocks.This will help you get to your maximum speed.
