  1. learn your course inside and out.  distances from different spots, blind angles, breaks in the green, anything helpful.

That being said, find out what kind of golfer your paired with.  Some are talkers, some aren't.  Sometimes you gotta be a scape goat, which sucks, but if he's any kind of a good person, he'll know what your doin (keepin his confidence high) and reward you.

But the more you endear yourself to your golfer, the better you'll do.

  2. I had the same problem when I was a kid / caddie. Then I found out what the other kids were doing... they looped for players who had big bets going. When the player won, they got bigger tips (and usually another loop out of the deal, the next time the player had a betting round going on). If the player lost, they still made out OK on tips. To get the money, you gotta go where the money is.

  3. You may be missing some basic but subtle golf etiquette rule.  Talk to the caddy master about more training, or offer to caddy for one of the pros for free, in exchange for their honest feedback.

  4. Request them

  5. The 2 biggest rules for a caddy are keep up and shut up.  Always be right there for your player with whatever he needs and DO NOT give advice unless he asks for it.

Other than that there really isn't much to it.  I don't know why your friends are making more money w/o seeing how you caddy.

  6. Are you an experienced enough player to give quality golf tips?  If so, go for it.  But for most caddies, the rule is "show up, keep up,  shut up"  Even if you are an accomplished player, many players just dont want to engage in conversation with the caddie.  I caddied for 2 years full time at upscale private club.  Dont try to do more than you are capable of doing as far as advice and tips go.  Do the basic things that anybody can do:  provide timely accurate yardages, keep the equipment clean, know the proper etiquette, be polite, and then hush unless spoken to. Accomplished golfers who have more to offer may make money than you but that doesnt make you a poor or less respected caddie.

  7. One less-obvious way of getting bigger tips is to caddy for guys who tip big-  usually Weds afternoons and Saturday mornings the courses are loaded with Drs and other professionals-  ask around when the big money games are going on and try to get one of those bags as well.

  8. I play golf always with caddy..

First, different people give different tips to the same caddy... So, maybe you have no luck yet to get big spender.

How much I give tips to caddy, this is my consideration:

I dont care about how good the caddy, but I want caddy with good etiquet, do their job no more, no less.

Same caddy, maybe I give different tips, its depend why I play golf... if I play golf only for fun or exercise... I just give less... but if I bet, I give more... bigger the bet, more I give tips... doesn't matter I win or lost.... If I win, I give extra.

So, if you want get more tips... caddy for the people who play for betting.

Other thing, most of the time... I use the same caddy... I give more to regular caddy.  For this one, try to get few people that always want you as their caddy.
