I am 5'1 and am on the volleyball team as a freshman in high school. I have been working out my legs alot to improve my vertical (even though im a libero so i hardly ever hit). I have been squating, cleaning and leg pressing my *** off and my vert still hasn't really improve a ton. I can squat 175 and i weigh 100. Tell me how to improve my vert!!! are there any workouts i can do?

  1. i just work on my vert by doing a lot of calf raises and a lot of squats.  I usually at one time do 5 reps of 75 calf raises and 5 reps of 50 squats.

  2. It is called plyrometrics, excersises to increase the vertical leap, these can be done in many ways including ladder excersies and other drills.

Jumping is not all about squats, there are other drills that are necessary. Go see a trainer in your area and he could give you some advice

  3. These things that I  am going to tell you about raise your vertical from 6-10 inches or more depending on how hard you work!!! The best thing is that they work!!!! They are called,  ---------------------------Jump Soles -------------

Don't listen to the other answers those exercises only raise your vertical by 6 inches these really work.  Look up Jump soles on the computer.  Here is a picture of one.  See these things do not have room for your heels so it forces you to jump without them and you can feel it more too!!! These things are amazing!!!! =]

  4. this is a good program that i found and i am using.

it's free and uses everyday home items to improve leg muscles.

other exercises that you could do are wall sits, leg press, calf raises, jump rope, squats, anything that involves jumping. try leg lifts too, they work on your hamstrings and abs.

  5. Air Alert II

it's a program (like a schedule) that you follow for 12 weeks.

i've been told it's amazing, and i plan on trying it as soon as i recover from knee surgery! apparently it's awesome, so i'd look into it! here's a link:
