Question:

How can i increase my jumping?????

im 5'9 i can only touch the board of the ring...i cant grab the rim how can increase my jumping???

  1. Leg lifts and dumbells.. If your old enough goto the gym!


  2. the first answer si right. As weird as it sounds the more you jump the higher you will. Build up your calf muscles as well as your upper legs and they will help you to jump higher. But at 5'9 I don't know if you'll be dunking anytime soon. If you grow to 5'11, you might be able to, but you'll really need to jump high.

  3. pick out something a couple inches above your reach and just jump for it like 30 times take a break do it again till you get it then go higher, this is what we do in soccer to jump for headers.

  4. I'm going to tell you what I told another member here.

    In short, use the Vertical Jump Bible:

    I have used air alert (think it was air alert 2) and it didn't work for me. All it did was hurt my knee, fortunately, nothing serious. I gained 1 inch after 7 or 8 weeks, then lost that inch after the 10th week so I stopped.

    With VJB, you can choose the right training for you. You see, I'm thin, not that strong but i'm very quick, so I didn't need to do all those reps, but I had to become stonger. I have been using the vertical bible for about 8 months now (I follow most of it, but I do cheat sometimes :) ) and i've gained 6 inches, which is pretty good considering that I had a max running vertical of 32 inches before. I'm so close to dunking right now, one more inch and I think I'll do it! :) (I'm 28 year old 5'7-5'8)

    BTW, you are gonna need weights to train. You can do part of it without them, but if you want real good results, you are going to need them. Oh, and it's not as hard as air alert, because 8 months on air alert, well, it's pretty much impossible to do.:)

  6. A great way to increase your jumping is to do plyometrics! I recommend getting a book or dvd on plyometrics so you know what you are doing. Squats are another great way to add explosivess! After all your working out is done you should actually jump at the rim- one leg, two legs, your weaker leg. Hope this helps!

  7. by swimming because moving in water takes much more muscle power which helps you build muscle particularly in the legs (thighs especially). trend mills and squats also help. lastly, practicing jumping also helps.
