Get it done because window installation has become a specialist job. It is so different from the past where you could just put window in.

Now it requires flashings and tapes etc.

Depending on the type of frame. Aluminum Frame windows use a rubber spline (gasket) to hold the glass in place. You simply remove the window unit from the exterior frame by unscrewing the mullion post or brackets. Lift the unit upward and the bottom pushes outward to free it. Unscrew the frame at the corners and take it apart. Reuse the rubber gasket around the glass, s***w the frame around it and reinstall.

A glazed pane, is set in a caulking (glazing compound).

Scrape the glazing compound out of the frame. You will uncover some triangular shaped "glazing points". These are a weird shaped type of nail that pushes into the frame to hold the glass in place. Run a thin bead of glazing compound inside the frame to seal it. Insert the glass. Hold it in place with the glazing points. Re-caulk the outside of the window with glazing compound using a glazing tool to shape the compound at a 45 degree angle. Let dry for a few days and paint.
