How can i invite people to our new yahoo group?

Question

i started a new yahoogroup to provide easier communication among old friends. and right that time i invited some people. then those people were in my member list.

The problem-Later, i tried again but it didnt work. The members list remained same. Nothing changed. But a friend that i tried to add was aware of the group although he was not a member yet.

why didnt it work while it did at first.

There is a difference between adding and inviting.  With an invite, the people get an email telling them about the group and inviting them to join.  If click the join link in the email, then they become members of the group.  With add, the person is automatically subscribed to the group once you do the add.  So, I'm guessing that the second time you used invite, but the first time you used add.

Also, people have email preference selections where they can block both invitations and direct adds.  If you try to do an invite or add, and the intended recipient gets nothing, it could be because they chose not to accept invites/adds in their preferences.
