  1. You cannot - one has to be born on the right side of the blanket, so to speak! Do not waste your money buying a phoney title: such titles are meaningless, absolutely worthless and would make you a laughing stock.

Don't worry: I was born on the wrong side of the blanket, too.

  2. Your not British! Otherwise you'd know the answer.

  3. You could always become a shakespearian actor.   You might get cast as  King Lear!!!!!

  4. Now, don't you be havin any of those pancy-pancin notions.

Know yer place an toff ye locks to yer betters"             Gracious me, but what is the world coming to, Alice ?

  5. You don't join the aristocracy. You are born into it or marry into it.

  6. You can buy a title, no problem, and then set yourself up, but don't expect anyone to ever take you seriously, though born into the so called aristocracy, most haven't got a proverbial pot to p**s in, and would look down their nose at you having to buy your way in. You would in a word be a laughing stock

  7. Well, there are some websites where you can buy a 'title'...such as www.buymeagift.com.......I guess its one way of becoming a Lord or Lady.....its a step in the right direction!!

  8. Well it is usual to be born into an aristocratic family.   You coud marry  an heiress to a title I suppose,   Some Lords of the manor titles  are sold  but no exactly aristocracy,    More like landed gentry..   ;

  9. You ask questions like this every day! YOU WON'T EVER BECOME A NOBLE. Get used to it.

  10. Buy one from an impoverished aristocrat.

There are no unclaimed islands except Antarctica which is covered by international treaties. The only way to gain a new land is to have sufficient military power to take and defend that land.

  11. Easy Peasy. Just buy a coronet (from Tesco's) and an ermine cloak.

Walk up the the House of Lords and give the doorman a bottle  of Moet  & Chandon, and wink, and Presto! You're IN!!

  12. You can marry into the aristocracy, but you won't get a title. You can do something very important and positive so the Queen gives you a title.

Buying an unclaimed by any country island an proclaiming yourself a sovereign state would be hard to do;you'd have to get the approval and notice of the world. But,it's not impossible.

The aristocracy is a very insulated world that looks down at arrivistes;they tend to prefer their own kind, people that they've known their whole lives. They may be polite to new people, but not count them as important in their world.

As to any islands being for sale;you need to find magazines of the upper classes and look in the real estate section--sometimes islands are advertised. And they are in the millions of dollars price range---not affordable to many!

  13. You could become the highest pee-er in the UK if you went on the top of Ben Nevis.  Lord Snowdon is the highest pee-er in Wales.

  14. All the companies that offer to sell you a British title are, basically, lying. There is *nothing* you can buy that would entitle you to call yourself a Lord.

  15. You are only truly part of the artistocracy if born to it.  You can marry into it, and be referred to as part of the aristocracy, but it is not the same as being born to it.
