How can i keep cats out of a room without closing the door?

my roommate has cats and they get hair all over my stuff so I don't want them in my room. However I live in louisiana, it's really hot here, and there's no way to keep my room cool and have air circulating in it with the door shut. I don't want to sweat when i'm paying for half of the electricity.

So, is there any other way to keep them out of my room? I thought about one of those baby gates but wouldn't they just jump over it?

is there some way to make them afraid to go in my room?

  1. buy a dog

  2. You could get a dog, or put up big life size pics of dogs maybe

  3. Put Up A Gate

and they wouldnt jump over it unless there was like a bird or something on the other side cats ae normally lazy they wont waste energy like that

  4. Some people use screen doors in the house, to keep cats out of or confined to bedrooms.

  5. Put  a dog on the doorway. LOL...

  6. get a dog

  7. Get a water gun and everytime they come near your door squirt them

  8. Get one of those 'door greeting' dogs that you can get from novelty shops. They have a sensor on them and they bark when they sense someone or something moving in front of it. Place one or two of these in front of your doorway.

  9. Put them in a cage.

  10. i have 3 cats and the way my sister keeps them out of her room is that she puts up a screen it helps and they do not get in the room

hope that gave you an idea

  11. train it....idk, i worked when the trained a dog on TV

  12. they have this stuff you can buy, its also used to put on counters so the cat wont jump on the counter, but you spray it and they don't go past it because of the smell or idk why they don't. but it doesn't harm the carpet or anything. idk what its called but yeah..they have it!

  13. keep them busy with something else in another room

  14. just spritz them with a little water when they go in, just buy a little sprayer, soon they will learn hey ill get wet if i go in there, works every time

  15. bubble wrap laid on the floor they hate that stuff when it pops

the plastic floor protector stuff i dont know what its called some people use it under computer chairs, it has spikes on one side to kinda stick to the carpet, if it flip it so that side is up the cats dont like that either.

My moms cat poops on the bed if it goes in their room so those are the things they have used to keep their cat out of their bedrooms

  16. they do have boundary sprays for cat at local pet shops...i bought this stuff called BOUNDARY....its like $12 for a big bottle...u usually have to respray it everyday cuz the scent only lasts 24 hours...but if u have carpet..jus spray a line of it on the carpeting right by the door...cats HATE the smell of it n will go running away. it works wonders on my kitten cuz my parents dont like her in their room. its like a training aid too so u shouldnt have to buy another bottle...jus get the 1 bottle n use it everyday for a week or 2....the cats will soon start to associate that horrible smell with entering ur room and they jus wont try to enter ur room anymore...whether the spray is there or not. Also...it doesnt smell bad to humans..it has a sorta citrus scent to me...but cats hate it! it only works well on fabrics tho...it has to have somethin for the scent to sink into...so if u dont have carpet to spray it on...what i did was take a piece of wood or cardboard n staple a piece of fabric on it..the spray the fabric n lay that in ur doorway.

  17. poison the tuna
