Question:

How can i kick harder? help please

I am on the high school soccer team, i have really good foot work and everything else but i cant seem to kick hard at all. there is one kid on the team that weighs about 90 lbs and can still kick twice as far as me. i think i have pretty good leg strength but i just cant figure out why i cant kick as far. so i would really love any tips that could help me improve.

  1. I suggest taking up a martial art like judo, it will help you learn to pivot to put a lot more strength into your kick, and how to throw your weight into a motion without throwing your balance too. It sounds weird, but it helped me a lot. Also, leg strength has almost nothing to do with it, its all about technique.


  2. ((go to a weight room )  ( work uot your foot ) its not about dat is the style how your kick the ball try to get some help from you coach  

  3. Buy ankle weights. If you make them too heavy it can be bad for you, but they do help.(Just be smart about it)

    It has a lot to do with technique though, so just keep at it, and ask teammates or coaches for some advice. Your coach knows best!

  4. you could always go into the nearest weight room, put weights around your legs and/or go running. I find that works for me and I won a soccer shoot out 1st placeeee. =]

  6. what cleats do you have that could make a great difference but then again its mostly technique, just type into youtube or something on ways beckham shoots the ball in slow-mo and just keep practicing

I seem to be able to kick harder and more accurate when i have time, not rushing it like i mostly do. stand, look at it, concentrate, have a nice run up and just smash the ball (or not, depends if im trying to curve it). make sure you put all your power into it, and after you shoot, the shooting leg should be high up... just look on youtube how to take proper kicks... try typing in riquelme shooting guide etc...

  10. hmm, i play soccer as well and we're kinda like the opposite of each other, lol.  i can kick hard and far but my foot work sucksss.  lol, since your already on the team im assuming that your coach has taught you how to kick, but i'll explain how i do it anyway.  k so basically get behind it a bit, cuz its difficult to kick it when its directly in front of your foot.  bring your dominate leg back and get your toe UNDER the ball so you are kicking with your laces.  it should make it go a lot harder and faster.  only toe punt it when you have to, lol cuz when you do that theyre never under control so dont kick with the tip of your shoe.  i hope i helped. :)

  11. ankle weights? I don't think so Tim. I think you just need to work on your technique. Go online and learn the technique and practice a lot.
