  1. If you want to keep it quiet, put a towel on the bat and another around the head of the mallet - this will dull the noise

  2. get rubber mallet from argos

  3. try a rubber mallet

  4. WHAT?

  5. Have you tried the old fashioned way? Put a cricket ball in an old sock. Tie one end of a rope to the open end of the sock and the other end to a strong tree branch somewhere far away from people who are angered when you make noise. The rope should fall perpendicular to the ground with the ball suspended approx. 2 ft (depending on your height) from the ground. Then go on and smack the ball as many times as you can. It can be fun when you're bored and it's a neat way to practice playing straight because if you do, the ball keeps coming back to you and you don't have to move around at all. Make sure you try to make impact with the ball on all parts of the bat (not just the sweet spot) as many times as you can because you want it seasoned well. I honestly think that I've generally had better performance bats when I seasoned them the was I just described. Remember to oil it religiously and you're set. Try it, I promise it works. :-)

  6. What are you talking about? a mallet? cricket bat? THEY'RE TOO DIFFERENT SPORTS.

  7. You could try a rubber mallet but I'm not sure it would have the same effect as a normal wooden one. If you don't like the sound it makes get a sportshop/someone else to do it for you.
