  1. the average full size pick-up bed should hold about 2.3 cu. yds....thats leveled off to the top of the bedrails...it would have to be a light material for you to haul and still be under your trucks weight limit...

  2. Measure the length and width of your bed, and multiply those two numbers.  Then measure the heigth of the bed, and multiply that number by the number you got when you multiplied the length and width.  For example, let's say your bed is 8' x 4' x 1 1/2'.  8x4= 32 sq. ft.  32x1.5=48 cu. ft.  There are 9 cu. ft. to 1 cu. yd.  48 cu. ft. divided by 9 cu. ft. = 5 1/3 cu. ft.  So your bed holds a little more then 5 cu. ft.  You can probably put 6 cu. ft. in it if you pile it above the top of the bed.  Good luck with whatever you are doing.

  3. The above answer is correct except that a cubic yard is 27 cubic feet.  (3x3x3).  You also need to consider the weight of the material- your vehicle registration probably has a weight limit you are allowed to haul.
