I have a 1997 Chrysler LHS. I have 166k miles on it. I keep up with my oil changes I got my intake gasket replaced in February and my fuel line replaced in September. I live in DC but want to go to SC which is about 7 hours. I haven't had any major promblems with it. Should I put it on the road?

  1. Have your trusted  mechanic go over it  real quick to look for potential problems.     He/she should check the belts and hoses,    check tires for wear and pressure,   visually inspect brakes for excessive wear,  inspect exhaust for leaks,  check the A/C for proper freon level,   and top off all fluids for you.   A good mechanic can go from one end to the other and advise you of potential problems.

  2. I would probably trust it. If you don't fear putting that many miles on it locally ,the long trip is actually easier on the car than short hops. You might want to get a mechanic to give it the once over just to be safe.Sounds like a pretty decent car to me.

  3. Make sure your tyres have tread and are correctly inflated, as well as having a mechanic check for possible mechanical failures.

  4. What he said, plus get a coolent system flush, and make sure the oil is good. You should be good to go.

  5. I would recommend that you have your local automotive repair shop do what we do for our customers.........

Have them do a complete vehicle check up from bumper to bumper and repair what is needed or if you are traveling a long distance like you are, rent a car and save the wear and tear on yours...
