  1. I dont know too much about yorkies but you can try to contact a reputable breeder and ask them questions regarding health issues and the proper care of yorkies.

  2. simple find a breeder through the yorkie national breed club not one of them breeds teacups, just healthy sized normal yorkies

  3. I like the look of a yorkshire terrier. They are so cute.

  4. Find a responsible Yorkie breeder. Start with the AKC breeder referral. Remember that dogs are expensive for a reason-- a responsible breeder usually has taken their dogs to shows and won awards. The most important thing is they have had the dogs tested for genetic disorders so they don't produce a litter of puppies that will only live a short sad life. (My dog only lived a year- I learned the hard way!) Breeding dogs is a huge expensive ordeal and very time consuming. That's why you need to either adopt a stray dog, or pay money for a good one. If you buy from anyone who doesn't offer registration papers for the puppy, and didn't get health clearances, they are BYB's and DON'T BUY FROM THEM!!!

  5. If you want a healthy, and prosperous Yorkie, buy one that isn't peddled as "teacup" or "mini".  Buy from a REPUTABLE breeder.

  6. You can never truly guarantee a healthy animal. However, if you go to purchase a yorkie, ask the seller for the vet charts of the mother (and if they can) the father. Then you can see if there is any hereditary issues in the family.

  7. There is no "teacup" sized Yorkshire Terrier. The individuals who breed and market that type of animal are not reputable breeders. The best way to find a healthy, well bred dog is to purchase from a breeder who is a member of the National Kennel Club and is active in regional breed clubs, shows and competes with their dogs. These are breeders who perform the necessary health tests on their breeding stock and offer written warranties and mentorship to every person who purchases a dog from them.

  8. The breeder should give you a health guarantee and then it's your responsibility to have your vet check out the puppy to make sure it's healthy.

If you want a Yorkie that will have a good chance at living a full, healthy life, then DON'T buy a "Teacup".  Yorkies only come in one size - standard.
