  1. Keep it Simple!!

Don't look for major changes to your time overnight and get discouraged!

    1. Don't turn your running into a chore. keep it light & happy!

    2. Give yourself a break every now and then and cross train with aerobic exercise, cycling, skating, swimming, etc.

    3. Stretch before and after every run.

    4. Invest in a good pair of shoes and don't be afraid to spend some money. If you have the correct pair of shoes, it will prevent a lot of injuries and allow you to keep running. Replace the shoes about every 400-500 miles.

    5. Keep yourself hydrated at all times and and don't run right after you have eaten.

    6. As you advance in your running, push yourself by adding short sprints along your run. Choose a car or telelphone pole and run harder until you reach that goal. As you build up make the distances you choose further away. When running up hills don't look at the top of the hill as it can depress you. Keep your sight about 10 ft in front of you and lean into the hill.

    7. Refer back to #1 at all times and Good Luck!

  3. Hi there!

Okay i'll give you a few simple tricks and pointers, k?

OK. So for the mile, start out with a jog then increase your speed gradually throughout the race. By the time you get to the end you should just give it all you've got. With your arms, move them from chest to pocket while running. Your legs, get your knees forward give a slight jump. Concentrate on your breathing too. Also stretch ALOT before and after your run. Stretch your arms, back, and most importantly, your legs. Eat alot of carbs and drink alot of water!!! And if you start to cramp up while running try to ignore the pain, unless you think you're gonna die. Know your limits, but be strong. I wish you the best of luck! Peace

  4. Just for the first half mile jog slower than usual then the next half mile jog as fast as you usually do. Before you start school make sure you run. I'll give you some workouts.

Monday- Run 0.75 of a mile, swim 0.25 of a mile and bike 5-7 miles.

Tuesday- Jog 1 mile very slowly and stairclimb for 20-30 minutes on just long stairs then going down just do a nice easy shuffle.

Wednesday- Jog 1 mile very slowly and 45 crunches.

Thursday- Run 400 meters all out 6 times with a 3-5 minute rest.

Friday-  Jog 2 miles very slowly

Saturday- 3 miles at a comterable pace. Swim half a mile. Bike 7-10 miles.

Sunday- REST. Just relax and stretch.

If you do these workouts you will be in good shape by then. Good Luck! You'll be shocked!

  5. i'd say pace yourself and load on carbs 90 minutes b4 running if u can. if u want, try jogging that half mile in thru the nose and out the mouth 4 like 3 days, take 2 days off, then when it coms time to run a mile, breath in thru the mouth and out the mouth. trust me, i used to breath thru the nose while running a mile, but when i found out it was the wrong way during a 2 day break, i breath w/ my mouth and felt light as air.

  6. mentally push yourself
