  1. I agree with the library! If you want to learn about magic you need to read read read!

  2. Most think that they need to see it before they can believe, the reverse is true of magick, you need to believe before you can see. You learn true magick by first practicing Goodwill, finding which path draws you and starting at the beginning. Its very easy to loose your way so find a master, one will present to you when you are ready to receive. A good place to begin is by learning more about Magick and about yourself, try Quest Magic by Amado Crowley.  http://www.amazon.co.uk/Quest-Magic-Guid...

  3. This is a serious undertaking that takes much practice.

Go to your library or bookstore and look at the books in the occult section. Some are better than others. Some are awful. Read a lot of them and after a while you will get a clue as to which books are better, though I will give you a list of some good ones.

You should also look at different magickal traditions and get a sense of what you gravitate toward. There's Wicca, Voodoo, Thelema, Chaos Magick, and others. Most of these are religions that have a magickal aspect to them. If you only want spellcasting without the religion you can do that too. Also, there are Wiccans that don't cast spells. So it gets complicated, when you meet someone, you can't assume what they do.

Start off slowly with meditation exercises before you do spellwork. Magick is all about controlling your own mind. You have to be able to do that first.

Also be clear about your morals and always add "Harm be to none" when you cast spells. Spells can backfire and do unintended harm.

    Here's some books for you:

"The One Year Manual" by Israel Regardie

"Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft" by Raymond Buckland

"Modern Magick: Eleven Lessons in the High Magickal Arts" by Donald Kraig

"Postmodern Magic: The Art of Magic in the Information Age" by Patrick Dunn

    “The Spiral Dance” by Starhawk
