  1. You must be very limber, not flexible.  First of all, I assume your talking about a form of Judo, and when you practice this art, its does require that you be in tip-top physical condition, so if you smoke, drink or do drugs, then please give them up, learning this style of self-defense will require that you maintain excellent  body strength and be able to be very limber.

I would suggest that if you are serious about learning this, then try swimming at least 20 laps per day, this will build up your stamina and breathing capabilities which is essential when practicing this art.  Breathing is very important.

Stretching, is also very important, and if you have never done this before, then I would suggest that you save up your pennies and when able to attend a private school with a certified instructor who can teach you the basics, first.  When he feels that you are ready to go to the next level, then he will tech you what you need to know.

I guess I was fortunate, my dad taught me Judo at a young age, and the style he taught me was Japanese Judo, as he had spent amost 8 years in Japan before world war II broke out.  I saw him use this art down on a beach in La Jolla, California when he got into a minor scrape with 6 big dudes that didn't like having someone tell them not to throw trash on the beach, my dad tried very hard to get them to undersand what they were doing was wrong and it was not acceptable.  When one of the "idiots" tried to round-house my dad, that was it, within a matter of a couple of seconds, all six were on the ground, and I don't think any of them ever connected a single blow to my dad.  After this, they suddenly got the message and left.

My dad put me through two years of building up my body before he taught me the first move in Judo, and even today, I still practice this art.

If your wanting to learn this self-defense so you can be aggressive and impress the ladies, then please don't bother, its strictly a self-defense art, using your opponents weight against themselves, and is designed as a self-defense weapon, your body is the weapon and so is your mind.

  2. get in shape.....meditate and...........ure not giving a lot too worrk with so jsut do lifting jogging and meditation for hours an hours ery day

  3. If it was that easy every one would be a ninja

  4. It's very difficult to "learn" something unless it's taught.  More over, it's very difficult to learn martial arts at home without proper instruction.  Utilizing DVDs and books is difficult enough already, in that minute details are difficult to see, and in many cases even left out.  Looks like you're setting yourself up for disappointment, bro.

If you want to learn movements like a "ninja," I would suggest taking some gymnastic classes and learning some form of karate.  This will more than likely get you going.  If you want to learn to truly defend yourself, though, I have to suggest looking into other martial arts.

    Good luck.

  5. You watch too many movies.
