What you do is buy a cheap board at d**k's Sporting Goods just for learning and a helmet.  Then try and get comfortable riding a skateboard and learn to balance on it buy riding down hills and stuff.  Then once you're comfortable, try and learn the ollie buy going on youtube.  Then once you can do the ollie moving and stationary learn to do the kickflip, manual, shuvit, and 180.  Then keep learning new tricks and try em out at the skatepark.
