I recently joined the navy but do not leave for bootcamp until the end of October. Instead, I am now leaning towards going back to college or I think I would rather join the Air Force. Is there anyway I can get out of it?

  1. call the air force recruiter and ask to swap over.  It's pretty simplistic really.  Or call the navy recruiter and let them know you want to go to college instead (that's a bit harder)

  2. There is no power on earth like the power of a mother . I do not think at this point , you can do anything about the process , but if it can be done , then your mother can get it done.

  3. I hate to be like your mom but you should have thought about this before. I'm the same way as you though so I know how that goes. Since you havn't left for basic training you can still get out if you tell the recruiter right away. He may give you a hard time b/c he wants his bonus or has a quota but you can get out. If you want to go to college get out now. If you want to go to the airforce I think your out of luck. They won't want to take someone who already quit the navy.

  4. As a former recruiter, I advise you go to your recruiter and ask him to fill out a DAR for DEP attritement.  Next, send a certified letter to the CO of the district you joined in as well as to the MEPS commander informing them of your intentions to DEP attrite.  Now they have 30 days to let you out or its deep guano for them.  YOU HAVE TO ATTRITE FROM THE NAVY BEFORE ANY OTHER BRANCH CAN EVEN TALK TO YOU ABOUT ENLISTING!!!!!!!!  Once you have attrited out of the navy, then the Air Force can get all of your information moved from the navy liason's office to the Air force liasons office.

  5. don't think so pal, enjoy the ocean.

  6. If you took the oath, you are property of the us government. You must serve honorably or suffer for the rest of your life.you will need a good medical reason, or just be unfit. I believe the last option is your best recourse.

  7. You are not actually in the Navy until you complete boot camp.

You can just tell your recruiter that you changed your mind.

He will be pissed off and probably make some bogus threats, but there is really nothing he can do. He can make the process slow and painful, which he will do. His career is on the line and your decision might cost him a promotion. Stick by your decision and you will eventually be out.

If all else fails tell him you are a blantant homosexual or go smoke some weed.

yes, this will hurt your odds of getting in the Air Force, but so is enlisting in the Navy then changing your mind before you even leave for boot camp - there is a price to be paid for your own decisions.
