How can i legally change my first name in indiana?

im interested in changing my first name..im 15 years old and i live in indiana...i want to change my name because i have been through alot of c**p in the past 3-5 years..and i mean ALOT of c**p..gotten into alot of trouble and everything..and everytime i hear my real name it makes me think of that person i used to be..i want a different name to give me a sense of kinda "starting new"?..i kno it may not make sense..but if someone could give me advice on where to even begin that would be great..thank you

Since you are a minor you will need the permission of your parent/guardian in order to change your name.  You can pick up a package of all the info and forms you'll need from the Court Clerk.  There's a rather lengthy process to go through and parts of it will cost money.  You will also need to make a comprehensive list of everywhere you need to make the name change so that your records carry over and there's no confusion.  As part of the process, you will also be required to sign a form stating  that you are not changing your name to evade legal or tax issues.

    That said, you're 15 years old.  That means that 5 years ago when everything started you were only 10 and I have to wonder how horrible your life could have possible been at 10 years old.  Probably not bad enough to change your name.  Give it a few more years before you make the final decision.
