how can i lock a folder in d drive? is it possible?

Many softwares are available.... but if you use XP, right click the folder, send to compressed (zip), delete the original, open the zip folder, go to file, give password. Now use the zip folder as any normal folder (edit, copy, etc.), but with a password.

well i'm assumming by 'lock' you mean password protect.

if thats the case, unfortunatly windoze won't let you password protect a hard drive, But if you want you could use 'truecrypt' it's free and you can use it to add a password to a whole hard drive or just a folder

Yes,

u can do it Without any software

if u have Ntfs File system in Ur D Drive

u just Check this through Properties of ur D Drive Check File System Name if it is NTFS Then u r able to lock or encrypt ur folder

Just Go to

Tools of Windows Explorer

Folder Option

Then Scroll down and u see last line use simple file Sharing Unclick it and apply

Then go to ur folder's Properties(Which u want to hide or Lock)

Then go to Security

and click on Deny (Full Control ) and apply it

if u want to unlock it Then click on remove (Or Uncheck all the Checked items)

in windows XP without using s\w u cant lock but u can make like if some one click the folder it will open recycle bin or control panel instead of displaying the contents.

For example create a folder Fonts in d:

then create a batch file named loc.bat and write "ren Fonts Fonts.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F9... in it

now create another file name open.bat and write "ren Fonts.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F9... Fonts"

save the file and execute the first file by double clicking on it.

this will convert the icon of the fonts folder to recycle bin and more over when ssomeone will click the folder it will open recycle bin.

u can unlock by DBclicking the open.bat file
