  1.      dont understand your question.

  2. Spray some WD40 (or similar type of lubricating oil) on it. Make sure it gets worked all through the lock too.

  3. It depends somewhat on the lock.  I'll assume you're referring to a deadbolt since a key-in-k**b lock typically doesn't make a sound when you lock it.

For a deadbolt mechanism to operate silently it must be properly lubricated, preferably with an oil designed specifically for locks and probably sold only at a locksmith shop.  As an alternative you can usually get automotive lock lubricant at a Canadian Tire or an auto supply store.  You want quite a thick lubricant to dampen the distinctive "click" of the lock.

Once you have the lock mechanism operating silently you would need to address the matter of the bolt entering the latch.  Adjust the latch so the bolt enters in the center and does not rub on the edges.  You may have to touch up the latch hole with a file to accomplish this.  Then for real silence, line the hole with a sound dampener such as the thin rubber cut from an old bicycle inner tube, or a piece of velvet fabric.  Just glue it in being careful to ensure that the bolt is able to fully extend into the latch.

Finally, when you operate the dead bolt, do so slowly.  Practice a few times so you can feel the mechanism move and sense when it reaches the extent of its "throw" - - which is where it is most likely to click.

I won't ask why this is an issue for you.

  4. Lubricate it as mentioned earlier, then close it *very* slowly.
