How can i make friends in a new high school? i am a freshman and this is my 1st year in public school...?

it seems like everyone has their own groups; how do i find one.. should i talk to the people who look like me? i am just afraid they might think i am weird... but its them or the scary people... and i am not talking to them! i have talked to them but i feel like they know each other so good from middle school that it makes me feel. awkward!?!

  It's difficult to get to know anyone in class, when most of the time is spent staring at the back of someone's head in front of you, so your best opportunities are before and after classes and at lunch.

  Be ready with a couple of topics to talk about already in the back of your mind. Do force them into the conversation, but work them in if you can. Almost anyone can talk about the movies they've seen, or places they've been.

  Also, join an afterschool group of some kind where there is a smaller group to interact with.

  Mostly, be relaxed and confident without being arrogant.

Be yourself. People will just become your friend because your you. Im sure theres alot of people that are in the same situation as you. Dont worry about it much i bet youll get over this question the first day
