How can i make my Ford F-150 truck have more fuel efficients?

i have a 1996 for f-150 and i want to know how to make it easier on gas and yet i owuld also love more horsepower to it and i dont want to put much money into it? cna oyu tell me some things i can do and the price range?

a true dual exhuast would be the best starting point. probably around $400 if you can run without cats. a cold air intake. and if you have the obd 2 computer get a power programer or better yet a custom tune the factory program is horribly inefficient.

Depends if its automatic or manual. Manual transmission gets better mileage but I don't know the cost for conversion. Also replacing the oil filters regularly and making sure tire pressure is up.

For the advanced stuff you can get your engine checked and bore the pistons, which should reduce engine sludge.

On the cheap, you really have no options.

All three engines offered in that truck have poor cylinder heads and intake flow which are not good for efficiency.

Oh well.
