How can i make my Giant Redwoods Grow Faster and healthier??

Hi, im 14, and i have some redwood seedlings that i have grown from seed, i want them to grow faster and stronger than they would do naturaly, Please give me advice.

I am using a little fertaliser on them

they are about 3cm tall

  1. you can only provide for their needs and see that they have no stresses... you cannot 'make' a plant do something .... folks that run greenhouses have chemicals that can 'force' a plant to hurry and bloom, or some that will keep the plant FROM growing so fast, but there's nothing to hurry a plant other than good care............


  2. if you over stimulate and over manipulate your plants, you could kill them. what's the rush? you should buy a more mature redwood and plant that, it will grow faster than from seeds. you also have to consider your climate, is it good for this tree, etc.

    I would reference the sunset western garden book, it will give you some good info.

  3. At this stage they probably dont need much fertilizer, but ensure they don't dry out.  Remove any side shoots that appear so the seedling isn' putting energy into branches that you wouldn't want, and turn the seedlings through 180 degrees every day or every other day on a regular basis, so they grow straight, that way you should avoid staking them.
